This week's review we have a rest from racing on the road - so we are off to the trails….. and also the WAC quiz night!
**WAC QUIZ 2023** First up we look back to Thursday night were we had 14 teams on the night for the brilliantly hosted WAC quiz by the compere extraordinaire David Powles – on the night we raised £890 for our Charity of the Amber’s Army! Well done to the winning team on the night - Knackered Parents comprising of the Tash & Jonathan Eagle, Jennifer & Graham Holliman & Helen Pidgeon! A big thank you to the committee for organising a brilliant event hosted at Park Farm Hotel & a massive thank you to the brilliant quiz master!
**Hereward Ultra** Daniel Yallop, first time in WAC colours, travelled to the Fens to take part in the Hereward Relay and Ultra event hosted by March Athletic Club – the Ultra event covered just under 40 miles along the Hereward Way trail from Peterborough to Ely. Daniel completed the event in an amazing time of 5:39:02 to finish 2nd overall on the day - Congratulations & welcome Daniel!
**Runners next the Sea 5 Mile Beach Race** The 5 mile beach run event returned for a 2nd year after the success of the inaugural event last year, enjoyed by numerous WAC members especially our own Lisa Greengrass. The race hosted by Runners next the Sea saw 14 WACers make their way to the North Norfolk coast to take on the beach race and albeit the cold conditions it sounds like it was a fun day out again. First back for WAC and first female back overall was Alexandra Ely, retaining her title she won last year, knocking 2 minutes off her time to return in a time of 39:08 in 12th position overall. Peter Morgan was 1st WAC male back in a time of 39:22. Claire Brown also had a nice day out taking home 3rd female overall and 1stF60-64 in a time of 42:16. No PBs can be registered in these events so well done also to Craig Skipper, Keith Blake, Martin Jones, Kim Reader, Kevin Garwood, Julia Kennelly, Caroline Pocock, David Evans, Wendy Burgess, Rachael Lockwood & Sarah Nelis for braving the coasting conditions at this time of year! #TeamWAC
