This week (better late than never) we review a busy weekend from four different races: -
** Marriotts Way Half & Full Marathons **
First up is the half & Full marathon races along the beautiful Marriott’s Way hosted by Positive Steps Events – We had one member taking part in the full marathon from old Norwich City Station all the way through to Aylsham & 5 taking on the half from the halfway stage at Whitwell Station, through to the finish – the second part was extremely heavy going due to the full-on overnight rain making for lots of mud and water – probably not what you need in the second half of a marathon.
In the Marathon, Adam Masterson completed the 26.2 in a brilliant time of 3:33:34, finishing 11th overall. In the Half Marathon, Will Parker was our first WAC home completing the race in a very respectable 1:37:00, finishing 7th overall, Lauren Smithson was our first WAC lady home in 2:06:39, Tony Beales picked up 3rd 🥉 in Age Cat 50-59 in a time of 1:50:55, whilst Keith Blake won his 🥇 M60-69 Age Cat in time of 1:52:54 & Bethanie Weldon finished in a time of 2:08:36.
Well done to all involved! 🙌🏻🙌🏻!
**Ryston XC Series – Race 5**
Elsewhere on the XC scene we had three runners over at Shouldham Warren for Race 5 of the Ryston Runners AC XC series – this time over the 9km distance. The heavy overnight ☔🌧️ rain also affected the normally dry running conditions as the runners ventured towards the river and found soft areas throughout. We had three runners – Stephen Woodcroft (32:06) was 6th runner home and finished 2nd 🥈M40 home, Adrian Hall (37:49) was 3rd 🥉M55 & Kathryn Heaney (39:50) was 3rd 🥉F35.
A bit further west Harriet Carr continued her marathon training and competed in the Stamford Striders 30k event – Harriet completed the race in a wonderful time of 2:04:56 finishing 5th female home and 1st 🥇F35.
