W/E 08.06.2024 - UoB Track meet & Aidan CR, Comrades, 10ks & Tri

Our members were very busy over the last week in 7 separate events; first up in our weekly review we head to the midlands.

**University of Birmingham Track meet **

Last Wednesday Aidan Banfield  entered the 5000m event 🏃🏼 – running in the second heat the young Banfield stormed around in a time of 15:36 setting a new personal best🎖️ but also achieving an overall club record🏅 ! Aidan amazing time was enough to see him finish 2nd overall🏆🥈 out of the two separate heats – a brilliant achievement within an extremely competitive field – Well done Aidan! 🙌🏻

Next up we mop up our travelling contingent;

**Comrades Ultra marathon 2024 **

Adam Baker once again travelled to South Africa 🇿🇦 for the illustrious Comrades marathon – this year competing in the ‘Up’ version that encompasses a 54 mile stretch that is mostly uphill running from City Hall in Durban to the finish in Pietermaritzburg – opposite to last year’s ‘Down’ route. Adam completed the challenging route in a time of 8:25:54 – Well done Adam! 🙌🏻

Next up is the WAC international man of mystery;

**Sao Bras de Alportel 10k **

Keith Blake  was at it again and this time he flew out to Portugal🇵🇹 for a bit of R&R but it obviously needed to include a race – his 9€ included a goodie bag with a vest and cork medal! Keith’s time of 48:45 on the hilly course⛰ with warm and breezy conditions, securing a 4th place age category finish – Well done Keith! 🙌🏻

Back in old Blighty🇬🇧;

**Boxted 10k **

Getting closer to home and Kevin Simpson made the trip south to Essex, North of Colchester, for the Boxted 10k. He completed the race in a time of 46:25 and a 9th place category finish – Well done Kevin! 🙌🏻

Finally back in Norfolk;

**Beccles Triathlon **

Julia Kennelly took part in the Beccles Triathlon on Sunday – the 420m swim🏊, 20.3km cycle🚴‍♀️ & 6.7km run🏃🏼 - completing the course in a time of 1:35:48 and a 3rd place🥉 category finish – Well done Jules! 🙌🏻
