The Hannah Purvis Award

As many of you will know, and for those who are new to WAC, we lost a dear friend in 2022.

Hannah Purvis had been a member of WAC since 2017, having only taken up running a few months before she joined.  What she lacked in size, she made up for in courage, determination and sheer bloody-mindedness.  For Hannah, running was all about headspace, self-improvement and above all else the friendships she made along the way.  She had so much time for everyone she met and she was always kind, smiling and encouraging.  But despite her nervousness about her own ability, she was deeply competitive, none more so than when she was running up a hill !

And when she was not running, she volunteered, she marshalled, she cheered and encouraged from the sidelines both at WAC and at parkrun.

She taught us all to be kind, to be respectful and ultimately not to quit.

This award is in honour of Hannah to recognise someone in the club that you think has shown the qualities that Hannah personified.
