W/E 13.04.2024 - Manchester & Boston Marathon

Five different events to run through on this week’s review; first up we cover our largest distance…… 26.2 miles!

**Manchester Marathon **
We had 15 members (plus numerous supporters) venture up to the North west last weekend for the second major British marathon of the spring Marathon season. First home for WAC was Matt Webster 🐼 in a brilliant time of 2:51:30, a massive PB🎖️ of nearly 10 minutes for Matt and vindication after all his hardwork to finally break the 3hour mark over the distance – not happy for just sneaking under this time, he was 8 & half minutes quicker! Next home was also the first WAC female home – Harriet Carr, running as strong as ever, she only just missed out on a new PB with her time of 2:51:36, however she did finish 4th female home overall in the non-elite runners and was 1st 🥇F35 home on the day – amazing work from you both!

Along with Matt there were amazing PBs also from Steven Mcnicholas (PB 🎖️– 2:59:13), Kate Gooding (PB 🎖️– 3:04:06), Josh Brown (PB 🎖️– 3:29:08) & Tony Beales (PB 🎖️– 3:41:44). There were also some brilliant first ever marathon times from Jacob Kenworthy (2:56:36), Hannah John (3:47:28) & Andrew Mundy (4:06:35). Great work by you all!

Well done also to Billy Wheeler 👟(2:57:10), Mark Banfield (3:02:10), Jon Shorten (3:05:33), Kevin Frazer (3:54:55), Jon Shoots (4:07:08) & Sara Shorten (5:05:30) for their amazing efforts! #TeamWAC 🙌🏻 💜🤍💜🤍

**Boston Marathon **
Double marathon action last weekend as the Boston Marathon took place on Monday – 🇺🇸 USA’s 🇺🇸 Patriots’ Day – 2 WAC runners made the journey across the pond to take part in one of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors . Both Alison Armstrong & Keith Blake were welcomed with some unseasonably 🔥 warm temperatures 🥵 along with the well-known gruelling course from the Boston Suburb of Hopkinton into the city centre – with hills ⛰ along the way. Alison Armstrong was first home in a time 3:12:23 before Keith Blake added another doubled up star to his résumé with a time of 4:22:55. Well done to the both of you! #TeamWAC 🙌🏻 💜🤍💜🤍

Next up on the agenda is the big one..... The TCS London Marathon ..... Good luck to our members running Sunday!
