Last up on our weekly review we look back to our 44 runners at the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon.
**Cambridge Half marathon**
Early on Sunday morning 44 members travelled south to Cambridge for the annual half marathon, hosted by OSB Events, that traverses through the prestigious colleges and through the Cambridgeshire countryside. It was a successful morning for WAC as over 50% of our runners on the day register Personal bests; Aidan Banfield (PB 🎖️) was first home for WAC in a brilliant time of 70:22, followed by Kyle Brooks (PB 🎖️– 71:24) & Chris Gay (PB 🎖️– 73:52). First WAC lady home, and continuing her brilliant run of performances, was Harriet Carr (PB 🎖- 81:05) followed by strong runs again by Alison Armstrong (PB 🎖️- 84:56) & Kate Gooding (PB 🎖️– 87:43).
As mentioned previously we had 24 Personal bests on the day – strap yourself in for this one, and they were: - Aidan Banfield (PB 🎖️), Kyle Brooks (PB 🎖️), Chris Gay (PB 🎖️), Jacob Kenworthy (PB 🎖️– 75:33), Steven Mcnicholas (PB 🎖️– 75:41), Matt Webster (PB 🎖️– 76:04), Josh Castlo-Hall (PB 🎖️– 76:55), Charlie Stringer (PB🎖️- 77:48), Harriet Carr (PB 🎖️), Gareth Seville (PB 🎖️– 84:34), Alison Armstrong (PB 🎖️), Mark Armstrong (PB 🎖️– 85:03), Kate Gooding (PB 🎖️), Will Parker (PB 🎖️– 88:02), David Powles (PB 🎖️– 90:27), Matt Goode (PB 🎖️– 90:53), Craig Skipper (PB 🎖️– 94:04), Ben Smith (PB 🎖️– 94:48), Andrew Mundy (PB 🎖️– 97:15), Zoë Webster (PB 🎖️- 99:50), Helen Pidgeon (PB 🎖️– 1:53:50), John Byrne (PB 🎖️– 1:54:42), Jono Beck (PB 🎖️– 2:18:28) and Laura Seville (PB🎖️- 2:50:06)
We also had 4 club records broken also: - Aidan Banfield (CR🏅) broke his previous under 25 record, Kyle Brooks (CR🏅) broke the Senior men’s record held for 35 years - last achieved by John Harding in 1989, Harriet Carr (CR🏅) broke her own previous F35-39 record & the amazing Claire Brown (CR🏅) broke her own F60-64 record. Amazingly Claire also finished 1st F60-64 home on the day - amazing result in a big event.
